Caterpillar in a tree
How you wonder who you'll be
Can't go far but you can dream
~
Wish you may and wish you might
Don't you worry, hold on tight
I promise you that there will come a day
Butterfly fly away
~
Butterfly fly away
Flap your wings now you can't stay
Take those dreams and make them all come true
Butterfly fly away
~
We've been waiting for this day
All along and knowing just what to do
Butterfly, butterfly, fly away
~

Isn't that a tearjerker?
My son is graduating this year, and any verses I hear about growing up & growing out
Make my chest all tight inside.
You know the feeling.
I can't take credit for the song, its Miley Cyrus's,
And the Flickr credits are here
But as I passed by my son on his computer
On my way to toss a piece of wood in the stove,
(not the one who's graduating, the younger one)
He was singing to this
And I've heard him sing it a thousand times before
But this time it caught my ear
And I had to come back into my office & write it down.
yes, it is ... I know that tight chest feeling ... beautiful mosaic
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce,
ReplyDeleteWow...I'm all chocked up... I almost can hear Trevor sing. Hmmmm. my sweetie. And than your almost flying out big one. Can't imagine him graduate. Still feel as if we did like yesterday. Do you remember when you were here. Long for those days and reading this makes me miss you even more. Why the heck did your dad move!!!! It's so not fair that you live so far away (or me, it depents how you look into it).
Say hi to my sweet boys. And give yourself a big snuggle hug. Will have my last Tim Hortons Coffee in a bit, but first my shower, than the coffee and than off to work. My last day. Yeahaaa. Than I have one week off before I'll start my new job. Talk soon big hugs. Love you lots Dagmar
This post makes my chest feel tight. Life goes by too quickly when you watch your young grow. Love the lyrics - it is a gorgeous post.
ReplyDeleteIt does go so quickly, but I think you will find that it is great fun watching them fly! And the tightness in your chest will be pride in enjoying the wonderful adults they become. The next stage of life is wonderful in a unique way.
ReplyDeleteOh, Joyce, I remember this feeling when Rick's first went off to school. And again when the younger one did, too. It reminded me of the time my cousin and I were north after her oldest left. We stopped at a fudge shop so she could send Mark some fudge and became so distressed, she could barely give them his mailing address. It's a huge change. I'm glad they both don't go at once...
ReplyDeleteThis is a simply beautiful post. And beautifully illustrated.
I do know how you feel about this time in your life. But trust me; your children are always your children. Just keep on loving them and they will always be there for you.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add the part I thought of when I first read this: A proverb:
ReplyDeleteJust when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.
loving your mosaic, especially the middle photo.
ReplyDeletei am thinking of you lots joyce.
