Sometimes I Get it Right

Most often,
when it comes to scheduling out of town appointments,
If you need to do 3 different things,
You can count on 3 different days.

Not often does it all fall into place
As easily as it did yesterday...

My son needed to go to the orthodontist to get his braces off,
Then wait 4 hours while they made his retainer
And come back.
He also needed a follow-up CT Scan
From his springtime accident
(which thank-god, is hardly more than a memory now)
Besides that, I needed to take an "Accuplacer" Exam
Which, put simply, is an exam to prove to the funding department that since I graduated more than 20 years ago,
I am still smart enough to succeed in upgrading my education

All this needed to be done in Williams Lake, an hour & 15 minutes drive from here
(If you do the speed it doesn't take me quite that long)
So I, by some stroke of good fortune,
Managed to get it all booked for the same day.
The Gods were shining on me.

The only kink in the armour was that I am still slowly recovering from the flu,
And can barely keep my eyes open & my body upright for more that 2 hours at a time.
Whether or not its H1N1 we don't know as the docs have given up testing everyone
They just hand out the presriptions for Tamiflu
Which didn't even help.

But there was no way I'd get all those planets lined up so perfectly again,
So I told Jeremy, make sure you've got your license,
Cause I may not be able to drive the whole way.

The braces came off,
The exam was written (& passed with flying colours except for the algebra part)
The CT Scan was done
New snowboard bindings were bought
The Superstore was visited
And the retainer was fitted & placed.

Supposedly, when I am supervising Jeremy driving,
I'm not supposed to fall asleep.
Well, it doesn' exactly say not to in the manual,
But its probably one of those "givens"
I couldn't help it,
and anyways,
we made it home in one piece.

And I went to bed!
Williams Lake, BC

  1. Glad you got it right. It looks so nice out west, I have to head out there one day.

  2. Hee hee Peter....I haven't heard the term "out west" since before I moved out we refer the the rest of the country as "back east"

  3. Hey you, gladd to have such a long post to dive into. What a day!!! And good on Jeremy to drive. Can't imagine him behind the weel yet...sigh. They're getting so big.

Yep those days are perfect ones, if only you weren't feeling so sick. Be well soon. Love you lots. Dagmar

  4. Could almost feel your weariness ... beautiful photo.

  5. I'm so sorry you are down with the flu - sounds like what I had a month ago... I couldn't keep my eyes open either. So hopefully today you can sleep, sleep, sleep! Congrats on the test and accomplishing so much.

  6. Phew busy day even when one's fighting fit - hats off to you for managing all that with a flu bug rampaging through your body! I hope you have a restful and restorative weekend :) x

  7. you are a super star doing all of that while not feeling quite up to snuff !
but yeah..the braces are off which is so cool and I know your son is thrilled....

and you passed a test....I would hate to take any test at my age....yikes !

  8. My daughter is jealous of anyone who get their braces off - she is itching. What a wonder woman you are - I hope you are feeling better.

  9. After a day like that, you deserve a nice, long rest. I hope you get it! Congratulations on getting so much done.

  10. Yow -- I'm glad you're doing better, though it still sounds like a challenge! Well, step by step! You had yourself quite a day!
